Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Settleo iPhone app and the settleo.net website (together, “Settleo”). By using Settleo you agree to them. If you download the app from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; if the two conflict, these terms apply to the extent Apple allows.

What Settleo does

Settleo helps you record shared expenses, split them and see who owes whom. Settleo does not hold, send or receive money. When you choose to pay a friend through another service such as Venmo, that payment happens in that service under its own terms.

Your account and groups

You can use Settleo without an account; shared groups require one. Keep your sign-in secure and use only your own email address. Everyone in a group can see and edit that group’s expenses and payments, so invite only people you trust. You are responsible for the content you add.

Acceptable use

Use Settleo only for lawful purposes. Don’t try to access groups you weren’t invited to, disrupt or overload the service, reverse-engineer it beyond what the law allows, or use it to harass anyone.

Settleo Pro subscriptions

Settleo is free to use. Settleo Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) that adds unlimited groups you create and spending by category. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country. The yearly plan may include a free trial; if you don’t cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

Calculations

We work hard to make splits and balances correct to the cent, but you are responsible for checking amounts before you pay or request money.

No warranty

Settleo is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We don’t guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of Settleo are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for losses arising from incorrect amounts, lost data or disputes between users. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending your use

You can stop using Settleo and delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or put other users at risk.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and for material changes we will let you know in the app or on this website. Continuing to use Settleo after a change means you accept the updated terms.
